VRF / VRV Climate Control Systems
VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) and VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) are innovative climate control technologies that allow for changes in temperature in different parts of a building at different times of day.
Installation
VRF & VRV climate control systems can be ideal if you have a number of rooms to be cooled or heated. In a typical installation, an integral system is provided via one or more outdoor units connected to a number of indoor fan coils. Available in 2 pipe for cooling or heating and 3 pipe for simultaneous cooling and heating, systems are easy to install using small bore pipes with minimal disruption to building occupiers. Outdoor units are capable of handling very long pipe runs and can usually be positioned discreetly out of sight. The number of outdoor units can be reduced to fulfil a range of total cooling requirements, which can be as high as 90 kW on a single system. Different types of indoor units, including wall mounted, cassette and ducted, can be connected to an outdoor system in any combination.
Features
These systems are applicable in hotels, office blocks, or any building with numerous individual rooms requiring air conditioning and temperature control. Individual adjustment of temperature in each room is set on a user control panel and the system will constantly adapt to changes in external conditions to maintain that temperature without further user adjustment. The system achieves this by ensuring that the air introduced into each room is cooled or heated to the correct temperature with the degree of cooling or heating automatically adjusted. The temperature of air introduced to different rooms will differ according to the conditions in that particular location. There are a large number of indoor units to choose from to suit any type of building or decor. Outdoor units are generally compact and can be placed close together, minimising the space required outside the building. It is possible to connect in excess of 30 indoor units to one outdoor unit.
Mini VRV & VRV systems to provide similar benefits on a smaller scale - typically up to 16 kW of cooling or heating - are also available.
Economical and efficient, VRF or VRV systems offer benefits in terms of energy consumption, heat recovery and ultimate levels of control. Most systems are designed to operate on the latest generation of refrigerants such as R410a.
Heating in addition to cooling
These units can have both a cooling and heating mode. With a better than 3.8 EU A-G heating efficiency rating that can be in excess of 4.0, their performance coefficient enables heating provision that is much more efficient than a conventional boiler with radiators.
Can incorporate special filters such as plasma or ionising, to provide additionally enhanced air quality. Most units use R410a, the highly efficient ozone friendly refrigerant.
Timer mode, sleep mode, ultra quiet mode available. Also features auto louvre mode with airflow discharge that automatically ensures an equal distribution of air to all parts of the room. Airflow may also be locked in a fixed position.
