Features
Ducted units are ideal for rooms with an irregular shape. Grilles can be fitted in a wide variety of locations, ensuring that cooling air will be diffused efficiently throughout the internal space. Grilles can be discreetly fitted in both walls and ceilings, or virtually anywhere that the layout and air conditioning installation allows.
With the indoor system distanced from cool air outlets, ducted air conditioning is inherently much quieter than other systems. Excellent efficiencies and exceptionally low noise levels are enhanced by the use of multiple constant speed compressors. There is also the option of additional sound attenuators, which are available for fitting in any situation where especially low noise levels may be essential.
Naturally low air flow levels are typical with ducted units and the advantage of a discreet air flow split over many grilles means that the discomfort of strongly directed chilled air can be avoided for everyone. Slimline units are available for installation where space is limited. Long ductwork runs are catered for by the option of enhanced airflow to overcome the higher resistance that builds up over distance.
Depending on the unit specification, ducted systems can have gravity or pumped condensate waste. Return air filters are built in. There is a choice of room controllers, with hard-wired controllers normally specified, offering the user a range of appropriate operating modes.
Heating in addition to cooling
These units can have both a cooling and heating mode. With a better than 3.8 EU A-G heating efficiency rating that can be in excess of 4.0, their performance coefficient enables heating provision that is much more efficient than a conventional boiler with radiators.
They can incorporate special filters such as plasma or ionising, to provide additionally enhanced air quality. Most units use R410a, the highly efficient ozone friendly refrigerant.
Some units have timer mode, sleep mode, ultra quiet mode available. Some systems also features auto louvre mode with airflow discharge that automatically ensures an equal distribution of air to all parts of the room. Airflow may also be locked in a fixed position.
